Why am I a Therapist?

In your sessions with me, you have my undivided attention and it is important to me that you receive the absolute care and support that you deserve. It can be a difficult choice to make, choosing your therapist, so here's a little deeper insight into me and how I work.

Why did I get into Therapy as a career?

I made the decision to change my career when I was in my early 30s. I had spent many years in the legal field but following some hugely important life events, I decided that whatever my job was going to be, it needed to feel worthy. I had a huge want to help and support others, I really wanted to feel like I was making a difference. I started my counselling studies and started volunteering in a supporting role. The volunteer role then went to paid work and I found myself working in various supporting roles, from working with addictions to helping and supporting families who had a sick child. My counselling studies continued throughout this time and it became much clearer to me that this was the line of work that I felt drawn to. When I qualified it didn't take me long to make the final leap to work within the counselling field. I can confidently say, it was and continues to be the best thing I have ever done.

What are my core values?

It is hugely important for me to show and practice compassion and kindness. These values are something which I have always tried to show to others and myself (although I have found it difficult at times to be like that with myself). A value which I have come to understand more as I grow older, is authenticity. I am able to relate to this more and more and realise just how important this is to me. Personal growth and learning is another hugely important value to me, I am a very curious being, I always want to learn and I think that reflects in the different work that I do.

What is your vision for Piece by Peace?

Firstly, I still have to pinch myself that I have my very own business. During my many years of study, it was always my ambition, my goal, my dream to be in the position that I now find myself in. I feel so lucky that I am able to call what I love to do, my job! My hope for Piece By Peace is that it continues to be able to provide that very much needed time and space for others, a place where someone knows they can come to, to be heard and seen. I am enjoying getting into social media more so it will be interesting to see where that takes me. I love to learn so maybe I will look at creating some specialism areas within the business.

What is my inspiration, for work and pleasure?

There are many things which inspire me, my wonderful family and friends, a great book, travelling, people, exercise and learning, I could go on and on. I am a very much half cup full sort of girl so I always have a lot of energy and enthusiasm for life. It feels important for me to try and live a full life, in the best way I can. A new day can get me feeling inspired, I try to look at each day as an opportunity which really does make a positive difference in how I see and feel things.
